IBBAC: Impact of Biogenic Emissions on Beijing Air Quality and Climate

> Expected output

The IBBAC project will strengthen existing international collaborations between Belgian and Chinese partners.

Main outputs will be :

  1. historical record (1970-2010) of biogenic emissions over northeastern China
  2. top-down biogenic emission estimates inferred by inverse modelling
  3. derivation of high-resolution emission inventories over Beijing region through downscaling techniques
  4. evaluation of the impact of biogenic emissions on air quality, ozone and secondary organic aerosol formation in Beijing region through air quality model simulations of present and “climate change” conditions
  5. reports, peer-reviewed publications, communications to international for a and congresses

raise awareness with regards to the role of biogenic VOC emissions in atmospheric pollution in China, and the associated impact on policy measures targeting improved air quality.
