GLOBEMISSION agrecultural waste burning CO emission estimates over the North china plain * Introduction This document discusses OMI-based CO emissions from agrecultural waste burning over the North china plain made available within the GlobEmission project at http://tropo.aeronomie.be/datapage_BIRA2.php?species=NCP_CO_OM The agrecultural waste burning emissions are derived using the adjoint of the IMAGESv2 global chemistry-transport model (Stavrakou et al., 2015) constrained by tropospheric HCHO column densities from the OMI satellite instrument (De Smedt et al. 2015). HCHO data are publicly available at the TEMIS website. The a priori aagrecultural waste burning CO emission estimates used in IMAGESv2 are provided by Huang et al. (2012) * The file format and contents The data are provided in NetCDF files for every year between 2005 and 2012. Values are given in kg / (gridcell* month) and cover the region from 32-40N and 112.5-120E in a regular grid with a 0.25 by 0.25 degree resolution. * Additional information The algorithm is described in the Algorithm Theoretical Baseline Document (cf. Section 4.1) available on the GlobEmission-website. (http://www.globemission.eu/docs/GE_ATBD_03_03.pdf) Evaluation of the emission estimates against independent data will be presented in the Project Validation Report II available on the GlobEmission-website in Januari 2016. * Contacts Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy Ringlaan-3-Avenue Circulaire B-1180 Brussels BELGIUM T.
